Professor Doreen Ramogola-Masire is the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise at University of Botswana, and a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with sub-specialty training in perinatal medicine and lower genital tract diseases. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health and brings over 20 years of experience in clinical patient care, clinical research, and medical education, along with more than a decade of academic leadership.
Her teaching portfolio spans women’s health, proposal writing, and research methods, reflecting her strong commitment to building research capacity and academic excellence.
Professor Ramogola-Masire’s research focuses on cervical cancer prevention and sexually transmitted infections, with particular emphasis on point-of-care screening modalities and the evaluation of clinical algorithms. Her work has informed policy changes in Botswana and beyond, contributing to significant advancements in cervical cancer prevention strategies. She has successfully led major research initiatives supported by diverse funding mechanisms.
She has guided medical students, MMed trainees, clinical fellows, junior faculty, and has co-supervised three PhD candidates. She has also co-authored numerous publications with her mentees.
