Launched in 2011, the BHP Clinical Capacity Building Initiative is a collaboration between the Botswana Harvard Health Partnership (BHP), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Boston, and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Portland. The initiative was created to support healthcare capacity building through clinical stewardship, medical education, quality improvement, and research in Botswana.

Sub-Saharan African Network For TB/HIV Research Excellence (SANTHE) is a Sub-Saharan African network of African-led research in HIV (particularly acute HIV (AHI)) and Tuberculosis (TB) infection. SANTHE aims to shape and drive locally relevant basic, clinical and translational research in Africa. SANTHE is a multinational network of multidisciplinary experts, working together to empower African scientists, and to combat HIV, Tuberculosis and HIV/TB co-infection through pioneering basic, clinical and translational research.
Trials of Excellence in Southern Africa (TESA) network is a consortium established in 2009, through the collaborative effort of the Southern African research institutes and Universities involved in Clinical Trial (CT). It’s a network made up of different centers that collaborate with different levels of development and expertise, but complementary Clinical Research landscape. The TESA network was also created as mechanism to fostering research collaborations, through investing in a joint pathway towards a stronger and sustainable clinical research landscape.
The BOTSwana Oncology Global Outreach program (BOTSOGO) works to improve access to quality cancer care in Botswana through a growing collaboration between physicians and other healthcare professionals in Boston and in Botswana. BOTSOGO, which means “health” in Botswana’s primary language, connects Mass General Cancer Center, the Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership, Botswana’s cancer caregivers and the Botswana government.
