Study Objectives

  1. Determine the effectiveness of a self-testing approach for HIV and STIs among young people in Gaborone, Botswana.
  2. Determine the barriers to SRH services among young people in Gaborone, Botswana.
  3. Determine the acceptability of self-testing by young people in Gaborone, Botswana

Study Design: Cross sectional, mixed methods pilot study. We have both quantitative (diagnostic accuracy of self-testing) and qualitative (feasibility and acceptability) aims.

Study Population and Size: The study is recruiting 200 young people aged 18-24 years accessing SRH services at the youth friendly clinic, BOFWA as well as young people seen at the University of Botswana wellness clinic and the YWCA.

Study Duration: 6 months.
